Liability Release and Training Agreement

1. I agree that I have hired The Learning Paws Academy as training professionals, to determine which tools are necessary to help me train my dog. I understand that I will obtain the best training results by following the instructions of The Learning Paws Academy trainer. I further understand that I am entirely responsible for the training of my dog.

2. I certify that my dog is in good health, is free from fleas, ticks, heartworms, and all other parasites and has received all required vaccinations, including canine distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis, para-influenza, bordetella, and rabies. I agree that I am under a continuing obligation to report to The Learning Paws Academy of any signs of illness or infection from my dog.

3. In the event that my dog requires emergency veterinary treatment while attending a training session, I agree that The Learning Paws Academy will, with discretion, transport my dog to an appropriate veterinary facility for treatment and will immediately attempt to contact me. I am responsible for the veterinary treatment.

4. I understand that Private/In-Home sessions must be paid in full prior to the training session. Your refund is based on the number of classes you purchase in a package. If you choose to not use all of the training sessions in the package you may be entitled to a refund. Refunds are only applicable if the training sessions left are more than 50% of the package (for ex. If you have a 10 pack package, and you use 2 classes and decide you want a refund, the number of classes remaining is 8 and therefore exceeds 75%). If more than 75% of the classes are remaining, you are entitled to a 50% refund. If you have 50-75% remaining, you are entitled to a 25% refund. Less than 50% remaining, no refund will be issued. The Learning Paws Academy reserves the right to change the rates over time.

5. I understand that any remaining balance of unused training will expire one year after the day of purchase.

6. I understand that if I must cancel/reschedule a private/in-home session, I must provide 24 hours advance notice. Failure to do so will result in a loss of that session.

7. I understand that although The Learning Paws Academy has successfully trained aggressive dogs, there are no guarantees that the aggression will subside with training. I agree that if my dog has displayed or continues to display aggression towards other dogs/and or people, it is my responsibility to muzzle my dog and to avoid potential problem situations at all times, not solely during training sessions.

8. I agree that in the event my dog engages in an act of aggression toward another dog or person while participating in dog training, The Learning Paws Academy may use reasonable physical force to interrupt and stop the aggression. I further agree that I am responsible financially or otherwise, for any harm or damage to other dogs, persons, and/or property appearing from my dogs behavior.

9. I agree to allow The Learning Paws Academy to photograph or videotape my dog(s) for use in print, publication, and promotion of the Learning Paws Academy.

Acknowledgement of Risk:

I understand that attendance and participation in The Learning Paws Academy is not without risk to myself, to my dog(s), and/or to third parties, and/or the dog(s) of third parties. The risks include but are not limited to, the risk of property damage, personal injury from dog bites, scratches, or other injuries, death, infectious disease, or parasites. I agree that my dog’s attendance and participation in The Learning Paws Academy is voluntary and was undertaken by my knowledge of the known risks and other risks that may occur from my dog’s participation in dog training.

Assumption of Risk :

 I agree that I have been informed of the risks associated with dog training and have assumed the risk of my dog’s attendance and participation in The Learning Paws Academy.

Release of Liability:

 In consideration for my dog’s attendance and participation in The Learning Paws Academy, I fully release The Learning Paws Academy from any and all claims and/or liability arising out of my dog(s) attendance at or participation in dog training, including all claims for personal injury, wrongful death, and property damage. I agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless The Learning Paws Academy from any and all claims and costs, including attorney’s fees arising out or relating to my dog(s) attendance at or participation in, The Learning Paws Academy dog training including claims of negligence against The Learning Paws Academy. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary herein, under no circumstances will The Learning Paws Academy liability exceed the cost of the training session.

By signing your name below, you are acknowledging that you have carefully and thoroughly read this Liability Release Training Agreement and understand its rationale.
